Carbon
Monoxide Gas Alarm
Carbon
monoxide is a tasteless, odorless and colorless gas and can be present
in your home without leaving a trace. It poisons more people a year in
the United States than any other type of poison. The problem with
carbon monoxide is that you won't notice it building up, the only side
effects of carbon monoxide build up are headaches, nausea and lethargy
similar to flu which are easily ignored. If your home uses propane,
gas, oil, wood or coal then you're at risk of a potentially lethal gas
build up.
You should take preventitive action against carbon monoxide build-up by
having your combustible
appliances inspected and serviced on a regular basis and by correctly
installing carbon monoxide gas alarms in your home.
It's recommended that you place a carbon monoxide gas alarm in several
rooms throughout your house.
If a carbon monoxide gas alarm goes off in your home, leave your home
straight away, and seek medical attention. Call the fire service on a
mobile phone or from a neighbour's phone. The Fire service is equipped
to detect carbon monoxide gas, locate the source and stop the emission.
